T.H. Clinical Technical Services Operating Room Specialist (SL3)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Incuments of positions in this family work under the supervision of nurses and physicians and perform a variety of technical work associated with operating room procedures.

• Direct supervisory responsibility over the entry level position;
• performs on-the-job training regarding the steps in a surgical procedure and the use of surgical instruments;
• and participates in nursing conferences and planned meetings for staff development and procedures improvement.
• Assists the surgeon by performing delegated duties as a "scrubbed" member of the nursing team.
• Prepares the patient, the room, the equipment and the supplies.
• Responsible for the aftercare of equipment and supplies.
• Transports patients to and from the OR.

Preferred Qualification:

Satisfactory completion of an approved Surgical Technologist training program. A minimum of two years experience as a Surgical technologist.
