T.H. Clinical Technical Services Endoscopy Specialist (SL3)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
The incumbents in positions in this family perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for gastroenterology, including esophageal motility studies, H2 breath tests, and all lower and upper intestinal endoscopic procedures.
- Assists in endoscopic procedures;
- maintains equipment to be used to insure their good working condition;
- assists in the care of patients in all aspects of endoscopic procedures;
- maintains record of medication given during procedures;
- assesses patient's knowledge of procedure for informed consent;
- responsible for specimens collected during procedures, with appropriate requisitions;
- participates in the training of new gastroenterology and pulmonary fellows;
- performs esophogeal motility, 24 hour pH recording, bile analysis, gastric secretory studies, H2 breath tests;
- assists in ERCP and Laser therapy;
- assists in the development of new projects and new protocols in the endoscopy department;
- maintains in-house and pharmaceutical supplies.
Preferred Qualification:
Associate's Degree in science or Registered Nurse, and two to four years endoscopy experience or gastroenterology technologist with two to four years experience.
