T.H. Clinical Technical Services EKG Specialist (SL3)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
The incumbents in positions in this family perform electrocardiograph diagnostic testing dealing with heart ailments, providing computerized recordings for the physician's review.
- Plans, directs and supervises the technical and day-to-day operation of the Electro-cardiology Department;
- schedules technician coverage and makes necessary adjustments for annual and sick leaves, etc;
- provides written evaluation of all technologists;
- operates, maintains Hewlett Packard ECG system to input and retrieve data;
- makes software adjustments;
- meet with manufacturer's applications staff;
- acts as liaison between the computer and physician staff;
- delegates work for individual technicians;
- coordinates purchase of new equipment and maintains stock, storage and utilization of support items.
- Instructs hospital staff and students in ECG techniques and computer transmission;
- supervises the clinical rotation of students to the department and provides guidelines and objectives for their clerkships.
- May establish policies and procedures;
- functions as liaison with other departments;
- interacts with service and sales people;
- assists with accepted research protocols.
Preferred Qualification:
Associate's Degree. Certification in EKG, ARDMS, CPT. Three years related experience to include one year in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
