T.H. Clinical Nutritionist IV(SL1)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
This title family obtains diet history and assesses nutritional status of patients, including renal failure, diabetic and cirrhotic patients and other patients requiring special diets, and instructs patients and families on required diet therapy.
- Provides nutritional care of patients at moderate medical nutritional risk;
- reviews medical records for laboratory values and results, medications, food-drug interactions diagnosis, past medical history and prognosis;
- interviews patients for dietary history;
- presents food intake and acceptance of present situation to make nutritional evaluations and is responsible for implementation and evaluation under close supervision of the registered dietitians.
- Plans and participates in orientations of in-service educational programs for hospital personnel;
- assists in the development of patient nutritional materials;
- participates in data collection for nutrition research studies;
- analyzes and utilizes pertinent published research related to nutrition care responsibilities;
- assists in updating hospital diet manual.
- Monitors service in compliance with dietary prescription and quality standard;
- evaluating patient's acceptance;
- plans and participates in Quality Assurance studies for Nutritional Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, RD eligible. This is an entry level position for a dietetic student having just completed a C.U.P. or internship and waiting to take the American Dietetic Association Registration Exam for Competency.
