T.H. Clinical Nutritionist I (SL4)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

This title family: obtains diet history and assesses nutritional status of patients, including renal failure, diabetic and cirrhotic patients and other patients requiring special diets, and instructs patients and families on required diet therapy.

In conjunction with the medical staff, develops nutrition plans. This includes analysis of nutrition status, considerations of nutrient-drug interactions, and recommendations of nutrition treatment. Nutrition recommendations may include quantities of electrolyte, fluid, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein, fat and energy needs as well as the most appropriate route such as central or peripheral venous access, or placement of a nasogastric, nasoduodenal, nasojejunum, gastrostomy, or jejunostomy feeding tube.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree, registered dietician with ten years clinical experience required; clinical specialty certification desirable.
