T.H. Assistant Director of Radiation Therapy (SL4) Title Code: 3744288
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
As a family the positions in this group are responsible for the delivery of radiation therapy to patients as prescribed and under the regulations of the National Cancer Institute. Incumbents must have in-depth knowledge of high-voltage, state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment with safety standards and to properly maintain same.
- Directs and monitors the daily activities of the radiation therapy technologists in the department;
- adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements;
- provides and assists in the on-the-job training for technologists, students and new residents in radiation therapy techniques;
- collaborates with medical staff regarding patient treatment;
- supervises Senior Technologists with in-service training programs, functions in absence of Associate Director;
- designs devices for treatment;
- supervises the maintenance and insures the proper operation of radiotherapy machines;
- supervises the organization, planning and scheduling of patient treatments;
- purchase of medical supplies and equipment in conjunction with or in the absence of the Director;
- oversees the maintenance of accurate treatment records;
- observes and reports adverse treatment reactions;
- preparation and submission of statistics.
- Participates in departmental educational programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
AAS degree or AMA approved two year certificate program for Radiation Therapy Technology, NYS license, RRT and five years related experience to include at least two years in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
