Scientific Glassblower (SL5)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Operates a technical facility that supports a wide variety of Science Engineering and Medical Departments at a University campus and must be capable of the design and fabrication of state-of-the-art scientific apparatus from various glass, quartz and ceramic materials;
provides repair and fabrication of commercially available glass apparatus;
instructs faculty, students and technical staff in modern glassblowing techniques and in the operation of glass apparatus;
provides consultation and collaboration on scientific research projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of five years of varied scientific glassblowing experience and two years of college level science and technology courses.
