Forest Property Technician I (SL2)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
At the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, this position works under the general supervision of the Forest Property Manager at one of the larger properties.
- administers timber harvesting programs and timber stand improvement work in support of instruction and research programs;
- conducts Forest Management Planning, surveying, mapping, maintaining records, writing reports as appropriate;
- assists in instruction and public service programs through development of educational displays and presentations on forest ecosystem management techniques;
- assists researchers in establishing site work;
- participates in marketing forest products such as fire wood and timber;
- supervises technical staff, students and crew;
- may serve as second in charge to the Manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
AAS in Forest Technology and 2 years related experience
