Forest Property Manager II (SL3)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
Entry level forest management position at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry working under the direct supervision of the Director of Forest Properties Manages and operates one or more of the smaller, less complex forest properties with a light to moderate level of instruction, research and public service activity.
- initiates, develops, and executes management plans, programs, and projects designed to enhance the value of the forest and related resources of those properties as integral components of the College's overall instructional, research, and public service endeavors;
- collaborates closely with College faculty, professional staff, and students in coordinating College-wide program objectives with the programs, facilities, personnel, and resources of the forest properties;
- responsible for the development, utilization, enhancement, and protection of all the property's natural resources, as well as for the economical production, processing, and sale of forest resources products;
- directly supervises support personnel associated with the management and operation of the forest property;
- supervises and otherwise controls and monitors all activities of the lay public on the property;
- in concert with Director acts as liaison between the forest property, the College's Administration, and the various Federal, state, and local agencies, as well as the lay public which impact on the instructional, research, and public service enterprises of the property, and on its management and operational programs and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in forestry and related resource management plus two years of experience in natural resource administration.
