Financial Aid Advisor (SL3)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
As a family, the financial aid titles administer the student financial aid program on a campus. Incumbents interpret and advise students on federal and State University financial aid programs, assisting students and parents in determining need and eligibility for various student aid funds.
- Serves on the campus financial aid staff.
- Meets with students and parents to determine financial needs and recommends assistance and programs within established laws and guidelines.
- Reviews applications, certifies eligibility, authorizes awards and vouchers for payment, manages budget control.
- Advises students and parents in the management of the student's personnel finances, alternate sources of assistance and financing.
- Conducts reviews and evaluations of financial aid applicants for packaging.
- Conducts directed research and evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's Degree and experience in financial aid.
