Director of Liberal Studies (MP)

This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.

DIRECTOR OF LIBERAL STUDIES, provides administrative supervision and academic coordination of instructional programs in the arts and sciences at a four year campus.

• Reviews and modifies curricula to meet the changing needs of a liberal arts program;
• has responsibility for the recruitment and guidance of qualified academic staff members;
• provides liaison between liberal arts and other division of the college;
• represents the chief administrative officer of the college at appropriate conferences, meetings and functions;
• assists in the preparation of the college budget for the liberal arts;
• evaluates existing programs in the liberal arts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate and appropriate college or university teaching and administrative or curriculum development experience.
