Director of Fine Arts Center (SL6)
This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.
Director of Fine Arts Center, administers the total program at a fine arts center comprised of a concert hall, drama theatre, art gallery, classrooms, studies, and other special facilities. Does related work as required.
- Programs all activities including art displays, scholastic symposia, and theatrical and musical performances;
- works with the academic departments to develop programs which enhance and expand instructional activities;
- develops and maintains a working relationship with civic organizations and the general public in order to meet the cultural and educational needs of the community;
- schedules the use of all facilities in the center for performances;
- supervises the preparation and sale of tickets and the various logistical activities necessary for successful operation of the center;
- negotiates con tracts with professional groups for on-campus performances on behalf of the college and student groups;
- schedules and supervises tours by student performing groups;
- reports to Dean for Fine and Performing Arts.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree and extensive experience in the field of arts management involving one of the following areas: arts council management, symphony orchestra management, management of concert artists, planning and directing of concerts or music festivals, or management of theatrical, operatic, or dance companies and productions.
