Director of Art Museum (SL5)
This title is in the Unclassified Service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.
- Is responsible for the general administration of the Art Museum and its staff and the scheduling and implementation of exhibitions, establishes and maintains environmental and security conditions for the collection;
- develops an education program that serves the needs of the Center's various constituents;
- directs the registration and allocation of the permanent collection of the museum;
- identifies and pursues new means of fund raising and works of art donations for purposes of the maintenance and augmentation of the collection.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional education and experience in museum or art administration required. Qualifications for adjunct faculty position in the visual arts desirable.
