"SUNY joins University at Albany in applauding President Havidán Rodríguez for being named to President Biden’s Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics.

Those of us fortunate to know Dr. Rodríguez have seen firsthand how he has not only elevated the stature of UAlbany in its entirety, but has made inclusive leadership central to the University’s mission.

Dr. Rodríguez’s data-driven approach to providing a path to academic excellence and personal fulfilment for Latino and Latina students was recognized by UAlbany's recent receipt of the coveted Seal of Excelencia – the first time such certification was granted to any public or private New York college or university.

Dr. Rodríguez is not only dedicated to SUNY’s mission of providing all students with a world-class education and ensuring they receive the support necessary to pursue their dreams, his work at the helm of SUNY's Hispanic Leadership Institute has helped to elevate dozens of professionals into positions of leadership across our 64 campuses.

We congratulate Dr. Rodríguez – an exceptional leader and an enthusiastic champion for higher education – for this appointment and know his expertise will serve the commission well."
