The Student Assembly of the State University is the official organization by which SUNY students can participate in University-wide governance. We provide a forum for consultation and the exchange of information between students, the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees.

Under Article XVll, the Student Assembly is the official organization by which State University students participate in University-wide governance.

The Student Assembly shall provide the following:

  1. a forum for consultation and the exchange of information between State University students, the Chancellor, and the State University of New York Board of Trustees on matters of a University-wide nature which affect student concerns;
  2. a procedure for electing the student member of the State University of New York Board of Trustees; and
  3. a communications network for campus student government leaders. The Student Assembly shall exercise such other responsibilities as the Chancellor or the State University Board of Trustees refers to it.

The Student Assembly sponsors two SUNY-wide leadership conferences each year -- one in the fall and on in the spring. Every campus elects or selects delegates to represent the campus in the Student Assembly. Delegates are the official representatives on the campus. Officers are elected at the April conference.
