Establishing a Registered Apprenticeship Program tailored to your institution's needs is not just a strategic move; it's an essential investment in your future success. Here's why:
SUNY colleges are able to support teacher and teacher assistant occupations.
A residency program is required for Registered Apprentices in the teacher trade. Colleges with a "*" have existing residency programs. The other SUNY campuses listed have teaching programs and may pursue a residency program to support the Registered Apprenticeship.
The following SUNY colleges offer degrees, certificates and/or microcredentials which may be used for Related Instruction training. The colleges listed above for the Teacher occupation may also have coursework appropriate for the Teacher Assistant trade.

Related Instruction Tuition Support:
SUNY can cover a portion of the Related Instruction tuition costs and fees, providing financial relief of up to either $6,000 or $8,000 for Registered Apprentices from your institution who are studying at a SUNY college. Funding amount is based on length of trade.
Pre-Apprenticeship Training Reimbursement:
If you sponsor a Registered Apprenticeship program and have an employee interested in apprenticeship, SUNY can support up to $1,000 toward training to ensuring they are well-prepared and a match for the Registered Apprenticeship opportunity.
Hiring and Retention Incentives:
Beginning on May 1, 2024, SUNY will provide incentives to Registered Apprentice employer sponsors and signatories. The Registered Apprentice must begin Related Instruction at a SUNY college within six months. The following incentives may be combined, resulting in an incentive to your company of up to $1,500 per Registered Apprentice hired.
Unlock State Incentives for Registered Apprenticeship Programs:
AEG offers funding to cover various expenses associated with training apprentices for certified New York State Registered Apprenticeship sponsors.
Eligible costs include Related Instruction, On-the-Job Training (OJT), books, and essential tools required for the successful development of Registered Apprenticeship programs.
