Chancellor Malatras Statement on SUNY Plattsburgh’s Suspension of 43 Students Present at an Unsanctioned Party

"Yesterday I saw first-hand SUNY Plattsburgh’s quick action in fighting the potential spread of COVID and today President Enyedi acted swiftly in suspending the 43 students who couldn't follow simple safety rules designed to keep all of us safe. The actions of a few goes against the overwhelming majority of SUNY Plattsburgh students I saw yesterday who are excited to return to campus and have a deep respect for the safety rules and for one another. Today's action should send a strong message that irresponsible behavior has serious consequences and I will support and urge all SUNY campuses to take similar action and use their maximum authority against anyone who blatantly violates these rules and endangers the community."
