Frequently asked questions

Contact your school counselor to see if your high school has been invited to participate.

No. If a student is not admitted to a SUNY school through the Top 10% Direct Admission Program they should not apply again. Students are given full admission consideration through this program.

Yes! This program does not exclude students from applying through the traditional application process. However, in addition to direct admission consideration at the nine participating campuses, during this process, students may also select up to five additional campuses to which they are interested in applying. While the student will not be considered for direct admission to these additional campuses, we are happy to send an application for them with no application fee.

After acceptance to the campus, the student will be asked to select the major they are interested in. If the major they are interested in does not appear in the list as an option, the student has not met the academic criteria to be admitted to that major.

Some majors may require additional steps. If the student selects one of those majors, we will inform them additional steps are requiredThe campus will then follow up directly with the student about those steps.

During the opt-in process, students will have the chance to select up to five additional campuses to which they would like to apply. While we can not offer direct admission to these additional campuses, we are happy to create a free application for the student and send it to the campus. Students may also apply to SUNY at any time through the traditional application process.

No. If you are financially eligible for EOP, we suggest you apply through the traditional application process.
