Stephen J. Hunt is currently the President of Seven Valley Associates, a real estate consulting firm.  Prior to this he served as President and CEO of the New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA) and the State of New York Mortgage Agency (SONYMA). Under Mr. Hunt's leadership these public agencies have been successfully re-engineered to emulate successful private sector financial institutions. The agencies have taken an aggressive approach to the recommendations of the Millstein Commission through the implementation of a rigorous system of internal controls and an extensive audit and governance committee structure which achieves the goal of increased transparency. During his tenure, the agencies have invested over $12 billion in the creation and preservation of over 150,000 units of housing statewide.

In September of 1996, the Governor designated Mr. Hunt Chairman of the State University of New York College at Cortland, his Alma Mater. As Chairman, Mr. Hunt was instrumental in the construction of the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex, the first major facility to be constructed at SUNY Cortland since 1973. In 2003, Mr. Hunt led a nationwide search which resulted in the selection of Cortland's current president. Recently, Mr. Hunt served on the search committee for the SUNY Chancellor.

Prior to his appointment to HFA and SONYMA, Mr. Hunt was the head of the Bank of New York's Municipal Finance Department. During his ten years at the Bank of New York, Mr. Hunt also served as the manager of the Financial Advisory Group and was the Bank's Senior Municipal Credit Officer.

From 1975 to 1984, Mr. Hunt was the Chief Financial Analyst for the County of Westchester. He Chaired the Westchester County Association's Committee on Government Finance and was a member of Governor Pataki's transition team in 1994.

Mr. Hunt serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the following organizations: the National Housing Conference, Inc., the New York Housing Conference and the Student Assistance Services Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Program in Westchester County.

Mr. Hunt earned a B.A. in History at SUNY Cortland, and received a MBA in Finance from Pace University.

Mr. Hunt and his wife, Deborah, have two children and reside in Katonah, New York.
