| Kaitlyn Beachner |
Kaitlyn Beachner was elected President of the Student Assembly of the State University of New York April 9th, 2011. The position requires her to also serve as the Student Trustee on the SUNY Board from June 1st, 2011 – May 31st, 2012. Prior to serving as President, Trustee Beachner served as a University College’s Representative on the SUNY Student Assembly’s Executive Committee and was a member of the SUNY Strategic Plan’s Transitional Team for SUNY and the World. Trustee Beachner is a 2008 graduate of SUNY Potsdam where she received a Bachelor’s in History and Anthropology. Being active as a Resident Assistant for years on Potsdam’s campus, Trustee Beachner desired to have a larger impact on student’s lives at Potsdam. Her senior year, she was elected and served as the Student Government Association President, where she worked tirelessly to ensure the student’s voice was heard by administration and legislatures Albany. As President of Potsdam’s SGA, Kaitlyn worked with the administration to successfully extend the library hours. In collaboration with other SGA members and Potsdam’s Auxiliary services Trustee Beachner worked to secure and expand the acceptance of campus dollars on various locations off campus and on the building of the newest dining facility on Potsdam’s campus. Then, President Beachner and her fellow SGA Executive Board members, together with President Schwaller of Potsdam were successful in securing $55 million dollars for the creation of a brand new performing art’s center on Potsdam’s campus. After graduation, Trustee Beachner worked as a National Sales Representative at Paychex , a Fortune 500 company based out of Rochester, NY. Within just under a year’s time she received a promotion and began her work in the Unemployment Department, a division of the Human Resource Services. After two successful years at Paychex, Trustee Beachner decided that she wanted to further her education and again she looked to SUNY to provide a quality graduate education. Currently a graduate student in the Higher Education and Student Affair’s Administration at Buffalo State College, Trustee Beachner aspires to continue to empower students for many years to come. For a second year now, she is the Graduate Assistant for Student Life at Buffalo State College. There, she continues to be the coordinator of the weekly Emerging Student Leader’s Program which emphasizes on strengthening the leadership skills and abilities of students involved. She also assists the Assistant Director of Student Life for Greek Life and Student Activities with Greek policy research, review, and change. Trustee Beachner also continues to assist in the advising of the Inter Greek Association at Buffalo State. Also included in her Assistantship is the responsibility of the ideation, planning, and facilitation of Buffalo State College’s Student Life Office’s largest biannual campus event, Union Bash. As an Intern in the Institutional Advancement Office throughout spring 2011, Trustee Beachner created an upperclassmen leadership program that will be housed in the Alumni Association’s office called Alumni & Advancement Ambassadors (AAA).
