SUNY Board of Trustees
John L. Murad, Jr. was appointed to the SUNY Board of Trustees on June 3, 2009. He is chair of the Academic Medical Centers & Hospitals Committee.
Mr. Murad is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, whose membership is by invitation only. Mr. Murad was selected as one of the “Best Lawyers in America”, and has also been selected by fellow Upstate New York attorneys to the list of New York’s “Super Lawyers” in the category of general litigation.
Mr. Murad has been trained in alternative dispute resolution and approved as a mediator for the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, handling personal injury and commercial matters. He has also been active as a member of the New York State and Onondaga County Bar Associations where he has served on various committees. He is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Mr. Murad has previously served as a member of the SUNY Upstate Medical University Council and has served on the Board of Directors of the Onondaga Historical Association, and the Onondaga- Oswego Chapter of the American Red Cross, where he served as Board President from 2004-2006.
Mr. Murad graduated from Hamilton College (cum laude) in 1980, and Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.
Mr. Murad, was born in Utica, New York, the oldest of six children of the Hon. John Murad, Sr. and Patricia (O’Shea) Murad. He presently resides in Jamesville, New York with his wife Renee L. James and their three children, Matthew, Bess and Patrick.
