Costs and Funding

Costs vary depending on your study abroad program, but we make every attempt to keep costs as low as possible. Costs of a program depends on the cost of living in a particular country or city; the tuition of the host university or institution abroad; services & extras such as housing, meals, excursions, etc. There are numerous options to help you finance your study abroad experience, including:

FINANCIAL AID

Financial aid can be used for study abroad costs on SUNY programs.

  • Depending on the cost of the particular option you choose, you may be eligible for additional financial aid and loans.
  • Even if you are not currently receiving financial aid, you may qualify for aid and loans to be used during your time abroad.
  • Visit your Financial Aid Office for more details on how much financial aid you can expect to receive for study abroad!

GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to financial aid from your campus, there are many sources for scholarships and grants. There are numerous scholarships available, some based on merit and others that consider financial need.

PERSONAL FUNDING

Consider starting a separate savings account and ask family and friends to crowdfund your experience. Be sure to read program details to determine the costs of the programs you are considering.
