How is SUNY moving the dial on clean energy applications across our system? Partnerships and collaborations with various organizations help to bring a collaborative impact to lowering our energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Technical Clean Energy Grant Writing Services

The following New York State entities work in collaboration with SUNY to advance clean energy and sustainabiltiy initiatives across the state. 

SUNY System has a Clean Energy Specialist available to assist campuses in identifying and applying to clean energy grants and incentives. For a small fee of 3% of the overall grant award (contingent on successful application) the Clean Energy Specialist will provide a consultation to help identify which incentives you are available for and best meet your campuses needs, prepare and submit the application on your behalf, and assist with any post-award reporting requirements associated with the grant. Some current opportunities available to campuses: 

  • NYSERDA Flexible Technical Assistance: Provides funding up to $500,000 at a cost share ranging from 50%-100% of the project for various clean energy planning activities including: energy audits, metering, clean energy master planning, creating a GHG Inventory, feasibility studies, and reporting to 3rd party energy and GHG certification organizations. 
  • NYSERDA On-site Energy manager Grant (Deadline: 12/30/22): Provides funding between $100,000-$200,000 at up to a 75% match for campuses to engage the services of a full time or part time energy manager on their campus. 
  • Custom & prescriptive utility electric and gas reduction incentives (Deadline: continuous): Each utility offers a custom & prescriptive incentive program for electrical or gas consumption. Funding as high as 70% of the total cost of the installed project is available depending on the project and your utility.

  • SUNY Maritime College – Energy to Lead and other funding sources for the Seamanship Center
