Summary

The chancellor of the State University of New York (University) has delegated to the campus president authority to determine who may attend courses as auditors and to establish rules and regulations concerning such course auditors.


Policy

Rules and Regulations Concerning Course Auditors

Such rules and regulations must be consistent with and include the following:

Course auditors shall:

1.    Not be charged any tuition. A registration fee of $50 may be charged as well as any penalty fees (i.e., late registration, library fines). A registration fee is not to be assessed to course auditors otherwise enrolled as a student in the University.

2.    Be permitted to audit courses, on a space available basis, with persons taking the course for credit receiving priority.

3.    Not be enrolled and listed in registers for such course.

4.    Attend without credit.

5.    Attend without formal recognition.

6.    Not be required to meet the requirements of the course.

Exception: No degree-seeking student shall be allowed to be a course auditor in any foreign study program or course.
