Cabán, who has served as SUNY’s founding Vice Provost for Diversity and
Educational Equity since 2007, has informed me of his desire to return to the
faculty to resume his research and teaching. I am pleased to announce that
beginning in Fall 2011 Dr. Cabán will be Professor of Latin American,
Caribbean and US Latino Studies at the University at Albany.
has made considerable contributions to SUNY, including the Faculty Diversity
Program, the Doctoral Diversity Fellowships in STEM, and other well received
activities to promote diversity, inclusion and equity. We congratulate Dr.
Cabán and thank him for the work he has done in establishing the Office of
Diversity and Educational Equity and its impressive programs and wish him great
success as he returns to the professoriate.
Cabán prepares for his new responsibilities, Carlos Medina will assume the role
of Acting Director of the Office of Diversity and Educational Equity.”
