York City – The
State University of New York Board of Trustees today voted unanimously to name Dr. Daniel
T. Hayes the interim president of Broome Community College. In this
position, Dr. Hayes will earn an annual salary of $135,500, as approved by the
board of trustees at the campus. This appointment is effective immediately, for a six-month period, with the option of extending
it for another six months.
“Dr. Hayes is well qualified for the position, having
served as president of Finger Lakes Community College from 1992 to 2007, at
which point he retired,” said SUNY Board of
Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden. “Prior to that, he held a number of
positions in academic and student affairs, as instructor, dean and vice
president. We are very pleased to be welcoming him back to the SUNY family.”

Hayes succeeds Dr. Lawrence Spraggs, who retired from as president of the college
June 30, 2008. The Broome Community College Board of Trustees has begun a
search for a new president. In the interim, the Board unanimously recommended
Dr. Daniel T. Hayes.
