Joint Statement from SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher and Maritime College President RADM Michael A. Alfultis, Ph.D. on Scott Kelly’s Mission in Space
March 27, 2015
“On behalf of The State University of New York and SUNY Maritime College, we congratulate Astronaut Scott Kelly ‘87 and wish him and his crew all the best as they embark on an historic one-year mission to the International Space Station – a journey that will inform NASA’s ongoing exploration of Mars.
“It comes as no surprise that NASA would entrust Captain Kelly with this important mission. Throughout his enrollment at SUNY Maritime and in the years since his graduation, Captain Kelly has shown impeccable knowledge, talent, and leadership.
“We have every confidence that he will continue to serve our nation, and represent our university, with the highest level of professionalism and excellence.”
