Statement by SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher on New York State Test Results

"As schools, educators, and state leaders review the test scores released today by the Education Department, it is essential that we bear in mind the true purpose of these exams – to learn what students know and determine how we can help prepare them for the next stage of their education.
"These assessments are a critical tool as we aim to strengthen New York’s education pipeline and ensure a higher degree of success for all students, from cradle to career. On behalf of all students and their families, it is important that we remain committed to higher standards and that we use this data not only for accountability but for the improved delivery of education in New York State."
