Statement from SUNY Chairman H. Carl McCall on 2014-2015 New York State Budget

March 29, 2014

This agreement continues the last three years of responsible budgeting that has put New York State back on strong fiscal footing, as has been noted by all three credit rating agencies who awarded New York positive ratings last year.

I am pleased that the recommendations given by Governor Cuomo's bipartisan Tax Relief Commission, which I chaired with former Governor Pataki, have been realized and will deliver much-needed relief to struggling homeowners and business.

Additionally, the agreement launches another round of NYSUNY 2020, which is an important long-term economic development strategy that further enriches our world-class higher education system-attracting the best in business and technology.

This budget agreement provides real relief to New York taxpayers, both businesses and homeowners alike, while investing in a better future for the people of our state.
