Ghana: An Artistic Expression

Locations:  Ghana (Accra)

Experience a culture where the heart and soul of music and drumming brings people to their feet to dance; a culture where the arts are a major part of life. Daily activities include: museum visits, music and dance lessons, bead and drum making demonstrations, batik making and kente weaving. We will travel north to the Ashanti Chief's palace in Kumasi; to Mole National Park where the wild elephants and monkeys live; to Kakum National Park in western Ghana where we'll walk on a canopy 200 feet above the ground; and finally to visit the slave trade castles in Elmina and Cape Coast. Students are required to keep a daily journal, attend all activities, and participate in the service learning project and International Expo when they return.
