York St John University

York St John University has a thriving study abroad and exchange program community with hundreds of students joining from all over the world. Students on exchange can take modules (classes) in dance, theatre and music, and many other liberal arts majors.  York is a beautiful cathedral city of about 200,000 people. The campus of 3,500 students is located beside York's famed medieval wall and a few minutes away from the thirteenth century cathedral. The city has interesting architecture, a rich history, and a wealth of cultural and recreational resources, including many museums such as the Yorvik Viking Museum. The Study Abroad Office provides a friendly "home base" for overseas students. They organize orientation programs and will arrange social and cultural events, including visits to sites such as Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Lake District, Bath, Hadrian's Wall and Bronte Country. By train, York is within two hours of London to the South and Edinburgh to the North.

Selected Topics in International Theatre: The London Theatre

Participants spend two weeks in London attending and discussing plays presented by the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratfordon- Avon, West End theatres, and experimental companies of the Fringe. When possible, seminars discussing productions will include guests from these companies. Backstage tours and visiting the sites of London will also be part of the itinerary.
