King's College

The College at Brockport offers both semester-long and summer-term program options for King's College London. As of England's oldest and most prestigious universities, it is ranked among the world's top 35 universities (Times Higher Education) and offers an intellectually rigorous environment supported by welcoming and caring traditions. Known as a prominent research university of 23,000 students in the heart of London, King's has played a major role in many of the advances that have shaped modern life, such as the discovery of the structure of the DNA. It is currently the largest center for the education of healthcare professionals in Europe and home to five Medical Research Council centers. Most classes are small and often students will have an individual academic tutor. King's also offers a large array of other academic subjects as well as connections to world-class art organizations such as the National Portrait Gallery, Shakespeare's Global Theatre, and the British Museum. Students will stay in the halls of residence on campus. King's campuses are ideally situated within a single square mile of central London, bringing students within easy walking distance of Covent Garden, with its brimming market streets lined with performers and the theatre district surrounding Trafalgar Square. King's combination of intellectual distinction and optimal location offers study abroad students the opportunity to expand both their academic and social horizons.

University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde is located in the center of historic Glasgow, Scotland's largest city and the third largest city in Britain. The University was founded in 1897 when John Anderson, professor of natural philosophy at Glasgow University, left instructions in his will for "a place of useful learning"—a university open to everyone. Today, Strathclyde is the third largest university in Scotland with more than 120 programs of study from five distinct faculties, including the world-renowned, triple-accredited Strathclyde Business School (including AACSB). The University is similar to the American liberal-arts system with a semester schedule. Students can choose four courses per semester, selected from the impressive range of academic disciplines. The campuses accommodations have been developed as a Campus Village, right in the heart of the city. At present, more than 1,440 students live on campus and approximately 500 live in University accommodations just outside the campus, with some located in Merchant City.

University of Roehampton

The University of Roehampton is located about 6 miles from the heart of London. Set in a beautiful parkland, the university combines green field campuses with close proximity to London. The University is well known for its academic standards, reflected by good Teaching Quality Assurance scores and its extensive research profile. Participants will attend the same classes, live in the same housing, and participate in the same social, cultural, athletic, and academic extracurricular activities as their British counterparts. The most popular program areas available at the University of Roehampton include: Business and Social Sciences, English and Modern Languages, Humanities and Cultural Studies, Life and Sport Sciences, and Education and Arts (including dance and drama). Housing is in university-owned residence halls. Typically, fall semester runs from early September to December and spring from January to June. In addition, there is also a program designed for freshmen.

The Freshman Semester program at Roehampton that is being offered in addition to our traditional semester study abroad program for sophomores and above.

The College at Brockport has a long-standing partnership with University of Roehampton and we are confident that this is a suitable program for first year students for many reasons.
We think that the unrivaled campus location and broad array of outstanding academic programs makes this the perfect place for our new Freshmen Study Abroad Program. Students from a variety of majors can also choose to take foundation level courses in their field. For Brockport Freshman specifically, a number of pre-approved General Education courses are already established at the University of Roehampton.

University of Portsmouth

The University of Portsmouth is truly an international university, in that approximately 3,600 of its 22,000 students are from countries other than England. Students seeking a truly international, multicultural academic and living experience should consider the programs available. The University is in the heart of the ancient seafaring city of Portsmouth and much of the students' time will be spent within a 10-minute walk from the harbor or waterfront. The history of the University dates back to 1870. Since awarding it's first-degree the University has maintained its commitment to promoting and maintaining excellence in teaching and research across its five faculties. Participants in Brockport's University of Portsmouth program will normally earn a total of 12-15 credits during the spring semester and 30 during the full academic year. Students will stay in on-campus student housing which are all walking distance from the academic buildings.
Being a coastal and island city, Portsmouth offers a safe and enjoyable location to live, work, and study. Portsmouth is on England's southern coastline and is located on an island between Bournemouth and Brighton. London is just 80 minutes away by train. Its history and heritage are tied closely to the sea and today the most common site from its ancient walls are the car and passenger ferries that make numerous crossing daily to continental Europe, namely to France and Spain. The city center is only five minutes away from the majority of the university buildings, so shopping, entertainment, and bus and train stations are very convenient. The second busiest ferry port city in Britain, Portsmouth's economy is flourishing, with major companies in high technology, engineering, and financial services. Old Portsmouth, a popular tourist destination, offers tourists and students alike numerous restaurants, shops, and opportunities for exploring historical sites.
