Journalism Without Walls

“Journalism Without Walls,” offered through Stony Brook University’s School of Journalism, provides students an opportunity to learn their craft outside the classroom. The goal is to provide student journalists with a broader and deeper understanding of the world. Previous projects have included: A week-long exploration of Havana; a month-long exploration of St. Petersburg and Northern Russia and a three week long journey along China’s legendary Silk Road.  Most recently, our Journalism students spent time in Istanbul, Turkey and will be headed to Bangalore, India during Summer 2015.  Students’ work will be professionally published on the Journalism School's web site.

India Summer Emerging-Market Immersion Experience

UAlbany partners with India's National Management School to offer summer opportunitiy to study abroad while gaining valuable experience part of a global program. India is considered to be one of the world's top emerging markets, with the pace of economic growth and development set to rival countries such as China, Brazil and the US. There is no better time to study the leading factors that has led to India's growth and place in the global economy. We are now accepting applications for a new summer 2013 program in India that is open to all majors. This summer course will give any students the inside track to India's economic growth along with exposure to the Indian society and culture and India's corporate world. Students enrolling in this program will get to interact with CEO's from some of India's top international corporations, visit several corporations, and will travel to other key cities including: - Chennai, gateway to India's rich and diverse culture and your host city - Bangalore, the silicon valley of India - Mumbai, India's financial capital - Delhi, the capital city of India and - Agra, home of the world famous and UNESCO Heritage Site, the spectacular Taj Mahal in Agra.

We Build

This four-week program (late July- late August) gives students the opportunity to study Indian Life, Culture, and Development issues while experiencing it firsthand. Students engage in service learning by building houses for poor communities, and working with children's groups. The program culminates in participation in the Asian Youth Assembly.
