Middle East Studies Program

The Middle East Studies Program at MIU is a four-week (summer) interdisciplinary program consisting of a number of courses in the humanities and social sciences. The variety of courses presents a comprehensive overview of the potential and challenges of the Middle East. Students in this program will gain deeper insights and greater understanding of the Middle East region. The program is designed for visiting students. Students may select two courses from the summer offerings. Classes are in session four days per week with a total of 16 hours of lectures each week. The three-day weekends allow for organized excursions to museums, the Pyramids, the Center for Political and Strategic Studies at Al Ahram newspaper, the Cairo stock exchange, Alexandria and the north coast, etc. Students study on the university campus and live in nearby housing. Fields of study include: language, literature, communications, government, politics, history, economics, business, sociology, psychology, music, art, international studies
