This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.
Positions in this series are concerned with the administration of the student affairs program to include planning, development of overall policy and the operations of the student personnel program. The student affairs area is concerned with out-of-class educational programs designed to offer students opportunities to-develop intellectually, socially, culturally and personally.
Serves as the chief assistant, or as one of several primary assistants to the Dean or Vice President for Student Affairs; does related work as required. Supervises those portions of the student personnel program, as directed; when acting as second-in-charge, substitutes for the chief student affairs officer when necessary.
Doctorate or Master's degree in Student Personnel and progressively responsible experience in student affairs.
