An appreciation of diversity among us!

2/27/2020
Rockland Community College has a superstar among its graduates. And one that recognizes the diverse contributions of a workers and staff that are often unrecognized for their contributions in our schools and universities. His name is Febin Bellamy, a 2014 graduate from Rockland Community College. He founded Unsung Heroes, a media company and serves  as  its the CEO. The company  highlights custodians, security guards, and support staff on college campuses who are often underappreciated. Unsung Heroes helps foster connection and understanding between campus workers and students via shareable interviews and video profiles. Its viral success has helped spread from its origins at Georgetown to become a presence at colleges across the United States, including UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Notre Dame.

Febin's work has been the subject of profiles in NBC Nightly News, The Washington Post, USA Today, Forbes, and The Chicago Tribune. As a result of his efforts, Febin was a featured contestant on Justin Timberlake's Spin the Wheel (FOX), a trivia-style game show where he won close to $100,000. In 2017, Febin completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Georgetown University and was recognized as the Student Entrepreneur of the Year.

Congratulations to Febin and to Rockland for cultivating respect and an appreciation of diversity for all.
