ONONDAGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
With nearly 12,000 students, Onondaga Community College is the second-largest undergraduate college in Central New York and is one of the nation's fastest growing community colleges. Founded in 1961, it is a comprehensive, two-year college operating under SUNY and is locally sponsored by Onondaga County.
More than $50 million in capital improvements have been completed on the campus within the past five years, and Onondaga's main campus offers three state-of-the-art residence halls housing 600 students, academic buildings equipped with modern smart classroom technology, an art gallery that features rotating exhibits, a 330-seat auditorium, a renovated student center featuring a one-stop student services hub and dining commons, a newly constructed turf athletic stadium, child care center, and gym/fitness center.
Onondaga students and the community alike take advantage of Arts Across Campus, a series of more than 40 arts and cultural events that also includes the campus' monumental sculpture collection of ten pieces. The College is home to eleven intercollegiate athletic teams, including the 2006, 2007, 2009 NJCAA National Champions men's lacrosse team, 2009 NJCAA National Champions women's lacrosse team, and the 2008 NJCAA National Champions men's tennis team.
