Licensing

General

Participating campuses receive a site license for use of the courseware by an unlimited number of Authorized Users.  An Authorized User is any employee, faculty member, or student, and any volunteer or agent performing work for SUNY’s benefit at the participating institution.  Authorized Users may install the software on their workstations at work, their workstations at home, and their portable computers, as well as access the software from a campus-operated computer (e.g., a computer lab, the library, etc.).

With SkillSoft’s help, SUNY campuses will work together annually to choose the 400 IT and 400 business skills titles to be hosted by SkillSoft.  The updated list will be provided to SkillSoft by June 1 each year, to be implemented by July 1.  In addition, campuses may, annually, exchange any and all of the IT courses being hosted locally on campus for an equal number of other IT courses.  Campuses are entitled to all updates that become available during their participation in the program.

Distribution

Most courses are hosted by SkillSoft in their SkillPort environment.  For courses to be hosted locally, SkillSoft will distribute one copy of the appropriate media and documentation directly to participating campus.  Each participating campus is responsible for copying the software and installing it.  A participating campus may install the software on any and all computers under control of the campus, as well as distribute CDs to Authorized Users.

Maintenance/Support

On-line maintenance and support fees are included in the annual license fee paid by a campus.

Deployment:  Participating campuses will have access to SkillSoft’s deployment tools as part of the license fee.

Ongoing:  SkillSoft will provide all technical support in accordance with its standard policies.  Each participating campus may name up to two individuals authorized to contact SkillSoft for support.

Payment

Participating campuses will be invoiced by SkillSoft and will process payment directly to SkillSoft, referencing the SUNY contract number.  State Operated campuses should encumber funds and make payment through the state’s AC-340 process.  If SkillSoft requests a purchase order, the campus business office may manually generate one.

Participation

Participation is voluntary.  Campuses that choose to participate sign a Participating Institution Agreement and submit it directly to SkillSoft.

Environmental, Safety and Health Solution Area (Go-Train):

Consisting of all Courses included in the following learning paths:  Asbestos Awareness, General Duty Clause, General Environmental Controls, Hearing Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Medical and First Aid, OSHA General Industry Health and Safety Standards, Personal Protective Equipment Awareness, Toxic and Hazardous Substances, Walking-Working Surfaces; as well as any new Courses or learning paths added subsequent to the licensing of the above option.

Per user fees based on desired number of employees or those required to complete compliance training.  The highest number of users licensed by any SUNY institution for the Environmental, Safety and Health Solution Area as of July 1 each year shall determine the Per Person price applicable to all SUNY institutions for that year.

SkillPort via Extranet Hosting Services

Each PI currently pays a flat rate of $5,000.00 in order to have access to the shared SUNY SkillPort via Extranet Hosting Services site.  In the event that a PI desires to have a separate SkillPort via Extranet Hosting Services site set up, the flat rate for such shall be an amount equal to $7,500.00.
