Assistant Vice Chancellor for Government Relations

Stacey Hengsterman was appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor for Government Relations in July 2011. Prior to that, Stacey served as Director of University Relations for ten years, managing a wide ranging portfolio from legislation to marketing to media relations.
 
In her current role, Stacey is responsible for articulating and advancing the State University’s programmatic and fiscal agenda before the New York State Legislature and related Executive agencies of state government. She also coordinates the advocacy strategy for the University’s 64 campuses and serves as a liaison to the University’s business, local government and community constituents. 
 
In addition, Stacey supports SUNY’s Strategic Plan, The Power of SUNY, by staffing the Vibrant Communities subcommittee. This committee is focused on projects that will increase community service and service learning across the SUNY system.  
 
Prior to working at SUNY, Stacey worked for National Heritage Academies as the Director of New Business Development and the Business Council of New York State as a legislative analyst.
 
A proud graduate of SUNY Cortland, Stacey is also a board member of Best Buddies New York and a past board member of the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center.
