The SUNY CPD (formerly SUNY TC), in collaboration with other SUNY-wide organizations, provides the coordination of conferences and events to foster collaboration and information sharing within and across the many disciplines of the State University system.

These include conferences and events sponsored all or in part by the SUNY CPD, as well as other SUNY conferences.

CPD Sponsored Conferences

  • Conference on Instructional Technologies (CIT) - partnering with the Faculty Access to Computing Technology (FACT) Committee, the Office of the Provost, the University Faculty Senate, and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges, this is the State University of New York's largest, most prominent event on instructional technology in education. The conference is attended by more than 500 individuals representing nearly all of the 64 SUNY campuses, as well as non-SUNY institutions.
CIT was established in 1992 as a means to provide faculty, instructional support professionals, and policymakers the opportunity to share best practices, discuss common problems, brainstorm solutions, and explore innovative avenues for integrating technology into the teaching and learning environment. Each year CIT moves to a different SUNY campus, providing an opportunity to showcase the unique programs and benefits a campus has to offer.

Visit the CIT website for more information.

  • Wizard Technical Conferences - partnering with the Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC), and the Computing Officers' Association (COA), these technical conferences are held in the Spring and Fall and focus on providing specialized content to educational technologists, networking specialists, and policymakers.

  • Teaching, Learning & Technology Meeting - this two-day meeting is attended by staff members from SUNY Teaching and Learning Centers and Online Learning Centers, along with administrators and faculty involved with e-learning across the state.

  • Fall Assessment Conference - partnering with the University at Buffalo, these one-day academic events are held in October or November on the University at Buffalo campus and feature both non-SUNY and SUNY presenters on the topic of program and classroom assessment.

  • Spring Teaching and Learning Conference - partnering with the University at Buffalo, these one-day academic events are held in February or March on the University at Buffalo campus.

Other SUNY Conferences

  • SLN AC/MID Summit - this 3-day event is sponsored by the SUNY Learning Network and is attended by their Academic Coordinators and Multimedia Instructional Designers.

  • COCIDS - Conferences on Computing in the Disciplines - Sponsored by the SUNY FACT Committee it is intended that these conferences will be inter-campus events for training and professional development of faculty and staff within academic disciplines. They will bring together SUNY personnel and visiting resource persons to examine new trends and developments in the use of technology for instruction and research. The application should clearly indicate which of the following models is planned:

    • The application and integration of instructional technology into the instruction and/or research of a specific academic discipline.

    • The broader use of instructional technology across several academic disciplines.

A goal of the conferences is to expand communication within SUNY about the issues of integrating computing and other emerging technologies, such as networking and multimedia, into higher education curricula in order to support instruction and research at the participating campuses.

Save these dates for SUNY FACT COCIDS.
