Summary

This policy outlines the cost, payment, deposit and refund of the college fee at campuses of the State University of New York (University).


Policy

I. Campuses with Academic Year divided into Semesters

II. Campuses with Academic Year divided into Quarters

III. Time of Payment

       The college fee shall be due and payable in accordance with the regulations established in Billing, Refunds, Collection, Write-offs Policy for Tuition, Fees, Other Charges.

Exceptions:

A.   When a student's college fee is supported by an award from the Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID), and the college has received a notice of authorization or voucher, the college fee charge shall be deferred. (See Billing, Refunds, Collection, Write-offs Policy for Tuition, Fees, Other Charges for additional information concerning deferment for students supported by the VESID Program.)

IV. Depositing of College Fee

The college fee shall be deposited into the Revenue Offset Fund.

V. Refunds

       The college fee is not refundable under ordinary circumstances. For exceptions, see Billing, Refunds, Collection, Write-offs Policy for Tuition, Fees, Other Charges.

History

State University of New York Board of Trustees Resolution 03-58, adopted June 17, 2003 changed the financing of SUNY residence halls, permitting the deposit of the college fee into the revenue-offset fund.

Affidavit, from the chancellor, dated March 3, 1992 granting approval of the final report of the university business officers’ ad hoc committee on revenue collection.

State University of New York Board of Trustees Resolution 63-22, adopted January 22, 1963 established College Fee.
