Release Date: 09/16/2008 New York City – The State University of New York Board of Trustees today voted unanimously to name Dr. Daniel T. Hayes the interim president of Broome Community College. In this position, Dr. Hayes will earn an annual salary of $135,500, as approved by the board of trustees at the campus. This appointment is effective immediately, for a six-month period, with the option of extending it for another six months.
“Dr. Hayes is well qualified for the position, having served as president of Finger Lakes Community College from 1992 to 2007, at which point he retired,” said SUNY Board of Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden. “Prior to that, he held a number of positions in academic and student affairs, as instructor, dean and vice president. We are very pleased to be welcoming him back to the SUNY family.”
“With his previous experience and proven leadership as a SUNY community college president, I am confident that he will serve most ably as the interim president at Broome Community College,” said SUNY Interim Chancellor Dr. John B. Clark.
“I'm extremely
grateful and appreciative to have the opportunity to join such a prestigious
academic institution,” said Interim President Hayes. “Broome Community College has made a number of important advances in recent years and has an ambitious
agenda for the future. I'm looking forward to playing a significant role and
making meaningful contributions at the college, working with dedicated academic
leaders and building on the reputation for excellence that is currently in
place. During the next six to 12 months, I hope to provide a stability of presidential
leadership the institution deserves, while striving to continue the College’s
many broad initiatives in order to ‘set the stage’ for incoming presidential
leadership." In
addition to his many years as a SUNY community college president, Hayes has contributed extensively to the community through
participation in numerous organizations, published articles and public
presentations.
