Syracuse – SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher today was the featured speaker at a breakfast meeting on economic opportunity in Syracuse, hosted by CenterState CEO Corporation.

"SUNY will be a key engine for the revitalization of New York State's economy and will enhance the quality of life for the state's residents,” said Zimpher.

“For this reason, I am delighted to have the opportunity to meet with CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity so we can share our ideas and open the door for partnership. As we implement our strategic plan across New York, it is imperative that we collaborate with economic development and community groups across the state."

The SUNY strategic plan, The Power of SUNY, will be a roadmap for SUNY for the next five years and guide its development for the next decade.

The overarching goal of the plan is to create areas of opportunity that allow for SUNY and its campuses to serve as the driving force behind revitalizing the New York State economy and improving quality of life for its citizens. The Power of SUNY explores many issues affecting New York State while identifying the following Six Big Ideas:

·         SUNY and the Entrepreneurial Century

·         SUNY and the Seamless Educational Pipeline

·         SUNY and a Healthier New York

·         SUNY and an Energy-Smart New York

·         SUNY and the Vibrant Community

·         SUNY and the World
