Albany – State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher today announced the winners of the
2010-11 Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes a combination of
academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I,
Division III, and NJCAA levels.
“This
year’s 74 SUNY scholar-athletes have accomplished a great feat, excelling in
our classrooms as well as our athletic programs,” said Chancellor Zimpher.
“With an average GPA of 3.64 and a number of championship competitions among
them, the achievements of our scholar-athletes are cause for cheer.
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.”
Scholar athletes are selected
by System Administration in consultation with the campus Athletic Directors at
each level of play. In honor of the accomplishment, each award recipient will
receive a congratulatory letter and a plaque from Chancellor Zimpher.
