Albany – State University of New York Senior Vice Chancellor
for Academic Affairs and Provost David
K. Lavallee today announced the appointment of James Peltz and Donna Dixon
as co-directors of SUNY Press.
In continuing the growth of SUNY
Press, Peltz and Dixon have been charged with expanding electronic and digital
publishing, as well as the refinement of publishing initiatives including
traditional scholarly focus areas.
“SUNY Press plays a key role
in realizing the University’s academic mission and SUNY will continue to support
its work,” said Provost Lavallee. “I have great confidence in the staff at SUNY
Press and in the leadership of Donna and James.”
Since joining SUNY Press in
1996, James Peltz has held the position of acquisitions editor, editor-in-chief,
associate director, and interim director. For the past two years, he has
managed SUNY Press' Excelsior Editions imprint, expanding the list of titles on
New York State and the surrounding region as well as acquiring trade and
general interest books related to SUNY Press’ scholarly publishing program.
“I'm delighted to welcome
Donna to our team,” said Peltz. “I look forward to working with her and the
rest of the staff at SUNY Press to refine and improve upon our wide range of
print and digital initiatives.”
Donna Dixon joins SUNY Press
after ten years with Nylink, a membership and service organization serving all
segments of New York’s libraries which is set to cease
operations next year. As Nylink’s director of member programs, Dixon
managed services and support related to Nylink’s business partners, primarily
focusing on developing and maintaining relationships with Nylink’s key
constituents in the library and vendor communities.
“As a New Yorker
and a SUNY alumna, I believe that a strong public university system is vital to
our state,” said Dixon. “A vibrant university press plays an important role in
that system. I am honored to be joining the team at SUNY Press and look forward
to contributing to its continued success.”
