Albany
– The State University of New York wishes John Simpson well in his retirement
and thanks him for his contributions to the University at Buffalo and Western
New York.
“We
shall continue to push forward with comprehensive management reform for SUNY,”
said SUNY Board of Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden. “No community has been a
stronger champion and no campus leader has worked harder for that cause than
President Simpson.”
“I
will be discussing with the SUNY Board of Trustees and the UB College Council,
in their respective roles, plans for President Simpson’s departure,” said SUNY
Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “This includes, among other things, the
appointment of an interim leader and the search for a new president at the
University at Buffalo.”
“Knowing
full well the importance of UB to Western New York, this search will be a top
priority for SUNY in order to maintain UB's excellence while continuing to work
for the reforms that will improve the quality of life in Buffalo and across our
state,” said Chancellor Zimpher.
