“For the
past nine years, Vice Admiral John Craine has served the State University of
New York and the Maritime College with outstanding leadership and
dedication. He brought to SUNY skills, experiences and values earned
through a life of service to our country and shared them with the next
generation of young men and women.
“As a
result, the Maritime College is at one of the strongest points in its
distinguished history. I have had the opportunity to sail with Admiral
Craine aboard the Empire State VI and know the high regard in which he is held
by the cadets, faculty, officers and staff of the College. I look forward
to working with him to make this academic year another successful one for the College.
“As Admiral
Craine has provided advance notice of his plans, we will undertake the
appropriate steps with the Maritime College Council to begin a presidential
search so as to insure a smooth transition next summer. I am pleased that
Admiral Craine has agreed to serve until his successor is chosen and is in
office so as to continue Maritime’s strong momentum.
“I
congratulate Admiral Craine on his successes and thank him for his many years
of service to the State University.”
