Statement from SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher on Student Support of Empowerment and Innovation Act

New York City – “The students of The State University of New York have demonstrated the courage of their convictions in their endorsement of the most significant reform to higher education in the State of New York in a generation. Their commitment to the next generation of New Yorkers sets them apart as forward thinkers and catalysts for change.

"The Public Higher Education Empowerment and Innovation Act puts students at the center and enables the State University to continue to provide them with the accessible, affordable and high-quality education that they deserve.

"The Empowerment Act carries tremendous benefits for current and future SUNY students, and I look forward to working closely with the Student Assembly and all of our students to ensure its passage."
