Nancy L.
Zimpher, chancellor of the State University of New York, will be Dr. Alan
Chartock’s guest tonight on WAMC’s Capitol
Connection at 8:30 p.m. The chancellor and Dr. Chartock will discuss her
debut as a weekly commentator on WAMC-FM’s Midday Magazine,
the region’s award-winning NPR-affiliate.
The chancellor’s
commentaries will air every Monday at 12:40 p.m. beginning December 21.
She will
engage listeners on topics such as current challenges and future opportunities
facing SUNY as part of the current strategic planning process as well as timely
social and educational issues.
“SUNY can
be the economic lifeblood of New York State, producing highly-skilled talent
for the workplace of the future, new technologies that create jobs, and an
abundance of educational and cultural opportunities that enliven our
communities and generate economic resilience,” said Chancellor Zimpher. “In
this commentary series I'm going to be talking about the multitude of ways SUNY
can drive innovation, opportunity and economic recovery for New York."
Tonight,
the chancellor talks to Alan about how teaching and learning are in her
DNA as well as her vision and audacious goals for SUNY.
