Statement from SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher

“SUNY expects student athletes and members of campus athletic departments to conduct themselves in the highest ethical manner on the field of competition, in the classroom and in the community. Overwhelmingly, our student athletes and members of the athletic departments make all of us proud through their achievements on and off the field.”

“However, in light of the most recent incident and other previous incidents related to the men’s basketball team, I have requested President DeFleur to report on the immediate steps the campus is taking to address these serious issues.

“SUNY will review the report as part of our overall responsibility for University athletics and student life and follow up as necessary with the campus.”
